2010 NFL Draft shifts to primetime; third day added to event

07/23/2009 - New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The National Football League announced on Thursday the 2010 Draft will take place over three days, with the first round starting at 7:30 p.m. (et) on Thursday, April 22.

Next year's second and third round will take place on Friday, April 23, while the fourth through seventh rounds will occur on Saturday, April 24.

Radio City Music Hall in New York City will host the event.

"We continue to look for ways to make the draft more accessible to more fans," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said. "Moving the first round to prime time on Thursday night will make the first round of the draft available to fans on what is typically the most-watched night of television."

From 1995 to 2009 the draft took place over a period of two days.
